It’s 2am and I’ve pulled an all-nighter pouring over every last pixel of these portraits. My heart feels so full.
I’ve known Elizabeth since the very hour she was born. I was there when her mother’s water broke and I was there an hour after she came. She was my son, Elijah’s, first friend and I’ve been through a lot with her parents who moved here from Russia many years ago.
So while home for Christmas, I got the idea to take Elizabeth out and photograph her in celebration of her as a dancer.
As we drove out to our location, I had a revelation that this shoot, it wasn’t just photos of a beautiful person (which I get to do regularly) but it was a fusion…a collaboration between two artists. Two artists practicing their passions together to make something spectacular.
This girl. As you go through the images, just look at how she holds her hands. The curves of her arms. She embodies grace and poise and, to me, she’s absolutely perfect. I’ve always had an affinity for Elizabeth, but after journeying with her tonight, I’ve gotta say I’m totally in love with this kid and I can’t wait to photograph her again.
