Alyx & Greg are a Scottish couple who eloped at the Orange County Courthouse in downtown Orlando during their Disney holidays!
A large portion of my clients are coupes on holiday from the UK who choose to get married at the Orlando courthouse while visiting the happiest place on Earth! Scroll to the bottom of this post for FAQ about international couples getting married in Florida.
Alyx and Greg hired me 6 months before their Orlando elopement at the Orange County Courthouse. They said that they chose me because of the information I share on my site to help UK couples navigate the Florida marriage process, they liked my work and they trusted all the great reviews people have written about me!

We messaged back and forth on Instagram for quite some time leading up to their elopement date in April so when the day came, it was exciting to finally meet in person! They showed up with all the guys in matching Scottish kilt suiting and Alyx was wearing cream which is my favorite bridal color. Pure pure white can be a bit much when it comes to photography and editing so I’m very happy when my brides walk up to the courthouse in cream, champagne, or blush.

They mentioned ahead of time that their son, Charlie, liked taking pictures so I made sure to bring a special camera just for him and he did a great job shooting the photos that I would print at the end so they could take something away with them.

When asked what editing style they wanted, they said for me to decide, so I edited the photos in my warm and earthy style which I think fit perfectly with their vibe and the earthy tones of their styling.
Thank you so much for having me, Alyx & Greg! Be sure to scroll to the bottom of this page (after the photos) for FAQ about UK couples getting married in Florida!
FAQ about UK couples getting married in Florida
Yes, absolutely! UK couples can legally get married in Orlando, Florida. Florida marriages are recognized as valid in the UK, so you don’t need to re-register your marriage when you return home.
No, you generally do not need to “register” your Florida marriage in the UK. Marriages validly performed overseas are recognized in the UK. Your official Florida marriage certificate will serve as your proof of marriage back home. You’ll just need to notify relevant UK bodies like HMRC, your bank, and maybe the local council.
Couples can elope at any of the Central Florida courthouses or locate an officiant to marry them in local places like gardens, parks and natural springs. I happen to be a photographer who can officiate marriages in Florida during photo sessions, making eloping so much easier.
The most popular places to elope in Central Florida include local courthouses (like the Downtown Orlando Courthouse for a city vibe or the Osceola County Clerk of Courts in downtown Kissimmee for a more small-town experience), Disney Springs for an affordable Disney wedding option, and stunning natural spots like Leu Gardens, Kraft Azalea Garden, and Kelly Park/Rock Springs. This is another page on my site with even more location ideas for Central Florida elopements and micro weddings
Yes, you need an officiant to legally marry you. If you choose to get married at a Central Florida courthouse, one of the clerks will marry you. If you choose a location other than the courthouse, an elopement photographer like me can often officiate your marriage during your photo session, making the process incredibly easy and seamless. I don’t charge extra to officiate marriages for my clients.
You can easily obtain a marriage license at any of the local Orange County Clerk of Courts offices. You can make an appointment or go as a walk-in, and the process is straightforward. If you work with me, I can guide you through the whole process! This is a set-by-step guide for how to get your marriage license in Orlando.
The cost of eloping in Orlando varies depending on your chosen location and services. Options range from a courthouse ceremony for $30 to eloping at Disney Springs for around $650. Eloping at venues like Leu Gardens or the Maitland Art & History Center come with some additional costs that you can learn about on my page with elopement location ideas in Central Florida.
