Tyler & Ambber were married at the Orange County Courthouse in downtown Orlando and then we finished up their photo session at Lake Eola
Tyler and Ambber kept it classic: a ceremony at the Orange County Courthouse in downtown Orlando, followed by portraits a few blocks away at Lake Eola Park. Black tuxedo, a fitted white gown with long sleeves and a veil, a soft pink bouquet — a clean, timeless look that photographed beautifully both inside the courthouse and out in the park.
The newly renovated courthouse ceremony room
This was my first wedding in the Orange County Courthouse ceremony room since its makeover, so if you’re planning to marry here, this is what it looks like now. The old décor — the Hobby Lobby flavored “live laugh love” signage and mismatched bits — is gone. In its place: a wooden arch draped in sheer fabric, and much better lighting. It’s a real upgrade, it photographs far more cleanly than the old setup and the addition of sconce lighting on the walls is much more flattering on faces.
I loved their dip kiss in the hallway outside the marriage office. Courthouse weddings have their own charm, and leaning into the building itself — the corridors, the signage — is part of the fun.
Portraits around the corner at Lake Eola Park
After the ceremony we walked over to Lake Eola Park, which is a great perk of a downtown Orlando courthouse wedding. It’s minutes away and gives you a completely different backdrop: palms, brick, big shade trees, and the little arched bridges over the water. We moved from the clean architectural lines near the courthouse to the softer, greener setting at the lake, so the gallery has range without anyone having to drive across town.
Lake Eola park is technically walking distance and in the cooler months, we often walk there during our downtown photo adventure but in August? You best believe we’re driving!
