Maggie & Jenn’s Alfond Inn wedding in Winter Park was a classy and stunning example of a micro wedding where we captured everything from getting ready to cutting the cake inside of 5 hours.
When I first started working with Maggie and Jennifer, the plan was a simple courthouse wedding. It’s not uncommon for elopements to turn into micro weddings. It also turned from photography for 2 hours into photography for 5 hours, videography and content creation.
I started off with Maggie in the impeccably styled spaces at the Alfond Inn which is a luxury hotel in downtown Winter Park, a suburb of Orlando. This hotel is filled with comforting textiles, luxurious wood, curated art, and the best light a photographer could wish for.
After some pre-wedding photos with Maggie, we headed to where Jennifer was getting ready with her entourage in one of the beautiful rooms of the Alfond Inn. I love the colors in there and they look amazing in this filmic editing style.
Throughout the day, I also shot on 35mm and medium format film and one of the fun things about this is that the film lab often delivers those shots before I’m able to deliver the digital edits so they make for really fun sneak peeks while you wait!
The ceremony ran hours late but we all just rolled with the punches and I’m sure Maggie & Jenn thought at least once or twice about whether they made the right choice rejecting a simple elopement for this. But Jennifer put it beautifully when she emailed to say, “We started this journey wanting to keep it simple and elope, though this version was way more stressful, we are thankful for the memories. We can’t thank you and Elijah enough for helping keep the memories alive with the beautiful work you do!”
I think this is why I take it so seriously what we do—because it’s all that’s left at the end of a sometimes-stressful event. It gives color to the memories so that the stress melts away and all that’s left is joy.
