This session was shot by GMP founder and Principal Photographer Elizabeth Millar

Valeria & Junior celebrated their elopement by exchanging their vows and having a photo session at Sydonie Mansion in Mt Dora

There is something about the architecture of Sydonie Mansion that immediately demands a specific kind of presence. With its Mediterranean lines, Spanish-tiled corridors, and lush, secret garden, it’s a venue that takes any type of session and elevates it into something truly elevated. For Valeria and Junior, it was the perfect stage for an elopement session that felt like a step back into the golden age of Hollywood.

While Valeria and Junior look like seasoned models in these images, like many of my couples, they arrived feeling a bit anxious and camera-shy. There is a common misconception that you need to be “good at being photographed” or “photogenic” to get images like these.

In reality, my role is to be your guide. By using intentional posing and prompting, I’m able to move my couples past that initial “deer in the headlights” feeling and into a space where they are simply interacting with one another without thinking about the camera at all. Whether we were walking through the sun-drenched corridors or shooting by the historic koi pond, my goal was to keep them in motion.

The styling for this day was impeccable. Valeria’s gown—a stunning piece with a sculptural off-the-shoulder neckline and a dramatic statement bow—felt like a direct nod to 1950s glamour. Combined with Junior’s white tuxedo jacket, they looked less like they were at a 2025 elopement and more like they were stepping off a mid-century film set.

What’s the best thing about shooting at Sydonie Mansion? It’s everything. It’s the way the Spanish moss filters the afternoon light, the way the terracotta roof tiles pop against the Florida sky, and the hidden oasis feel of the garden and fountains. It provides a level of architectural sophistication that makes even the most intimate elopement feel grand.

Valeria and Junior, thank you for trusting me to guide you through this day. Watching you move from nervous anticipation to radiant confidence was an absolute joy.
