Winter Park Courthouse wedding and elopement photography

I'm a photographer who has photographed hundreds of weddings in the courthouses of Central Florida

Whether you want to have a classy courthouse wedding, a cheeky Orlando elopement in Hannibal Square, or an Orlando courthouse wedding with old money vibes, the Winter Park Courthouse and surrounding areas might be just the spot for you.

I'm Elizabeth Millar

central florida photographer and officiant

I photographed my first wedding on a borrowed camera in 2008 and spent the next decade doing large elite weddings in Europe.

I now bring this professionalism and class to weddings of any size and pride myself on making budget conscious weddings look expensive.

I've done over 600 traditional and micro weddings and 300 elopements in the courthouses of Central Florida.

I'm ordained to officiate marriages and recommend only using me for this during elopements with just yourselves or very few guests.

Location options for your post-ceremony session

There are no places at this particular courthouse for your photo session and that's not a terrible thing because the Winter Park area is full of incredible spots for us to go. And because we have no choice, you won't pay an additional location fee!

Frequently asked questions about courthouse marriage ceremonies and weddings at the Orange County Clerk of Courts in Winter Park, Florida

Q. Who can get married at a courthouse in Florida?

A. The rules for getting married at a courthouse are the same as anywhere else. You simply need to be eligible for a marriage license. The things that make you eligible are age (18 years old), marital status (not already married), waiting period is over (or you took the online marriage course).

Q. How much does it cost to get married at a courthouse in Florida?

A. Marriage licenses in Florida are $86 or $61 if you took the online marriage course. They charge $30 for the ceremony performed by a clerk of courts.

Q. How many guests can I have at my courthouse wedding in Winter Park, Florida?

A. Every courthouse is different as some have more space than others. At the Winter Park courthouse, the ceremony room has about 16 chairs with room for a few more people standing.

Q. How can I get my license and get married same day in Florida?

A. If both parties are non-residents (out-of-state or out-of-country ID), there is no wait. If you are a resident, you must take a 4-hour premarital course to skip the 3-day wait.

Q. How is the 3 day waiting period calculated for marriage in Florida?

A. If you get your license on a Monday, you are eligible to marry on Thursday. The clock starts the day after issuance.

Q. Do I need an appointment to get married at the Winter Park courthouse in Florida?

A. The Winter Park courthouse specifically takes appointments up until 3pm as opposed to the downtown Orlando location where the latest appointment time is 2pm. Every Florida courthouse I have worked in allows walk-ins without an appointment. Getting an appointment is advisable if you want to make the most out of the time you have with me.

Q. What if I'm late for my courthouse wedding appointment in Winter Park?

A. Most courthouses have a grace period. For example, the grace period for Orange County including Winter Park and downtown Orlando locations is 15 minutes while it's just 5 minutes at the downtown Tampa courthouse. If you're there past the grace period, you will sign in as a walk-in and still be able to get married but you might just wait a few minutes longer.

Q. What ID and documents do I need to get my marriage license at the Winter Park courthouse in Florida?

A. You need a valid government photo ID (Driver’s License or Passport) and your Social Security number (you don't need the physical card). If you're international and don't have a social security number, that's ok! If you have a child together born in Florida, you must complete the "Affirmation of Common Children" form .

Q. Do I need a divorce decree from a previous marriage to get married in Florida?

A. No. You just need to know the exact date the previous marriage ended. However, if the divorce happened within the last 30 days, some counties may ask to see the judgment.

Q. Do I need a witness to get married in Florida?

A. No. Florida law does not require witnesses for a civil ceremony. If you want them, they are welcome, but the Clerk/Deputy Clerk acts as the sole official.

Q. Can we exchange vows and rings during a courthouse marriage ceremony in Florida?

A. Yes! Clerks allow for a vow and ring exchange and encourage photography, though you should check if professional tripods or flash equipment are restricted in that specific courthouse as they are often not allowed through security.

Q. Is professional photography allowed at the Winter Park courthouse?

A. Yes! Clerks at the courthouse in Winter Park are very photography friendly. Flash is not allowed in the general public spaces but it IS allowed in the ceremony room. It's always best practice to check that everyone in the room is ok with flash as, for some people, flash can trigger migraines or seizures.

Q. Can I bring a tripod to the Winter Park Courthouse?

A. In my experience, courthouses in Florida DON'T allow traditional tripods with telescoping legs but they DO allow tripods that have short bendy legs to wrap around things.

Q. In Florida, can I get my marriage license in one county and get married in another?

A. Yes. A Florida marriage license is valid in all 67 counties, regardless of where it was issued.
