Sunrise proposal on a Florida beach

When Trevor got in touch to say he wanted a photographer to capture his sunrise proposal on a Florida beach, he wasn’t sure which beach would be best. So I helped him with more than just the photos.

When a guy or gal gets in touch to tell me they need help planning a picture perfect proposal, I snap into planning mode and share all the things I’ve learned about how to pull off a proposal caught on camera.

The first thing we decided was that, since he wanted to do it at sunrise, it should be on the east coast of Florida. The west is best for sunsets and east for sunrises. He was driving from a few states away to surprise Jordan and didn’t know much about our beaches here.

Before driving to Orlando to surprise Jordan, Trevor hit the east coast and discovered a perfect location for his proposal: Canaveral National Seashore. It’s a national park I never knew about and WOW. At the center of the park is one 6-mile long road with a number of boardwalks where you can stop and get out to enjoy the beach.

It’s very raw and untouched. We even saw a wild boar running around in the bushes!

So with the location planned, there was the question of timing. Sunrise was at 6:30 am so I left my house at 4:30 and arrived just in time. I saw his Jeep pull in behind me and pretended to also be chasing the sunrise while I waited for Trevor to drop to one knee.

Jordan said yes 💍 and we had a super fun engagement session on the beach and in the woodsy part of the park. That bit was short cuz’ spiders 🕷️ 😳

Thank you for having me, Trevor! It was so much fun.
