How to get a Florida marriage license 100% online with the Hillsborough County Clerk

As the busiest courthouse wedding photographer in Florida, I know a lot about how to get married at all of the major city courthouses. So I’m sharing it with all of you!

Whether you plan to get married at the Tampa courthouse or not, you can get your license through their 100% online process and get married anywhere in Florida with that license. And yes, international couples can take advantage of this before their Florida holidays

How to get a marriage license online at the Hillsborough County Courthouse in Tampa

  1. Start this process ahead of time

Although you can only get your Florida marriage license within 30 days of getting married, you’ll want to start the process of booking that Zoom appointment early. One commenter on my TikTok video about this topic said, “Make sure you do it at least 2 months in advance because I tried booking 1 month in advance and it was all booked up.”

  2. Complete the online Hillsborough County marriage license application.

Hillsborough County now does marriage license appointments online via Zoom. The first step to get your Hillsborough County marriage license is to complete the online application which you can find here.

  3. Make a Zoom appointment to finalize your marriage license application

After you submit your online application and a clark reviews it, they will email you with a link to schedule your Zoom call. You will receive the zoom link the day before your online appointment so don’t worry if you don’t see it instantly after making your appointment.

  4. Have your Zoom meeting with the Hillsborough County Clerk

At the date and time you scheduled your meeting, you will log in via the Zoom link to meet with a clerk who will validate your IDs, review your application with, take the payment, and have you electronically sign your marriage license.

  5. Download your marriage license

Your marriage license will be emailed to you to download and print. It will also come with instructions for your officiant on how to sign it when they marry you. After your wedding, you will return the signed license to the Hillsborough County Clerk who stamps and certifies it. Congratulations, you now have a marriage certificate!

After getting your license, you can now get married! If you want to get your license and get married on the same day, you need to have proof that you took an online premarital course. If you’re not a Florida resident, you can get your license and get married on the same day without taking the course.
