Springtime Maitland Art and History Center Micro Wedding

Nick and Joe are a lovely couple who were married in a micro wedding at the Maitland Art and History Center.

The Maitland Art & History Center has a couple of spots at which couples can get married. Nick and Joe were married at the most popular spot—the Mayan Courtyard. On this day, the courtyard was a real sun trap and the light wasn’t ideal for photography. With half of the courtyard in shade and half in full blown sunshine, the lighting presented a challenge.

As with any venue, I’d recommend visiting it at the time of day (and time of year) that you plan to get married. This means you can assess the light in the spot where you want to get married. If you’re not planning that far out, at least work with a photographer who has worked there at all different times of day and seek their advice about the lighting.

While lighting in the courtyard that day was a challenge, lighting in the main garden was glowing and such a joy to work with. I think we got some really bright, joyful photos of Nick & Joe’s big day and I’m so grateful to them for having me!
