Kelly Park Rock Springs September Elopement

This session was shot by GMP founder and Principal Photographer Elizabeth Millar

Alexis & Sam were married with family and friends at Kelly Park in September

Alexis & Sam’s Kelly Park micro wedding was extra special for a couple of reasons. I had already had the pleasure of working with them during their engagement session back in the spring and this creates a great vibe because when I show up to shoot the wedding, we already know each other and you already feel comfy being in front of my camera.

So getting to see them again in the Autumn was as easy and breezy as catching up with friends.

We started with a Alexis and her first look with dad which was touching and precious. He then walked her down the path and stairs to everyone waiting and straight into their ceremony on “the big rock” where everyone always wants to hold their photo shoots and marriage ceremonies. Their ceremony was officiated by a favorite of mine—Catherine a.k.a “The Ginger Officiant“.

The only downside for this spot is that in pretty much any season other than winter, there will be people launching into the lazy river from this spot and also passing by in their floats. I photoshop them out, of course, but this does mean that your ceremony may have onlookers in their swimsuits.

For Alexis and Sam, this ended up being a funny thing because one of those passersby filmed from his tube, put it on TikTok and Instagram and went viral. The internet cried out for two things:

  1. “We must find this couple!”
  2. “We want photos with this guy in the background!”

When they came back online after their honeymoon, Alexis and Sam were tickled to discover that their wedding was being seen and celebrated by millions of people (views are at over 12 million at the time I’m writing this).

People have expressed a lot of disappointment that I was unable to find any shots with “Tube Guy” floating by in the background and honestly, I’m surprised too because it was by far the busiest day I’ve experience there and none of my shots had any people in the background, let alone Tube Guy. Bummer.

In addition to digital, I also shot a roll of film and those shots came out SO AMAZING I’m in love with them. They also ended up being favorites for Alex and Sam and I’m excited to shoot more film during weddings and sessions.

After the ceremony and Mr/Mrs Session in the park, we headed to their family home for a joyful reception that I caught candidly as a fly on the wall.

It was such a pleasure and another wonderful Kelly Park wedding in the can!
