Photographing kids with special needs and their families is really important to me. I don’t imagine it was an accident or sheer coincidence that my flair for photography emerged just before my own special needs child was born.

This family are special not just because their daughter has Rett syndrome like mine. From the instant I walked through the door I was captivated by their uber brilliant boys. And although they have 4 kids and 1 on the way and were on vacation in a house they weren’t used to, everything was so calm. I’m fully convinced that healthy, happy, chilled out kids are that way because their parents are chill too.

It was really a joy to hang with them on the beach and take whatever came at us while we worked and played together to capture these images.
