How to get a Florida marriage license online without visiting a courthouse

Start this process ahead of time
You can only get your Florida marriage license within 60 days of getting married and depending on which clerk’s office you use, you may want to start the process of booking that Zoom appointment early. One commenter on a TikTok video I made on this topic said, “Make sure you do it at least 2 months in advance because I tried booking 1 month in advance and it was all booked up.” I believe she was talking about the Hillsborough County Clerk.

I have personally done the Seminole County Clerk process for a UK couple of mine and when it came to making the virtual appointment, there were many same-day and next-day appointments available and it was very easy to make the appointment.
Complete the online Hillsborough County or Seminole County marriage license application
For Hillsborough County, complete the Hillsborough County online marriage license application. After a clerk reviews it, they will email you with a link to schedule your Zoom call.

For Seminole County, complete the Seminole County online marriage license application and then schedule your virtual marriage license appointment here.
Make a Zoom appointment to finalize your marriage license application
If you applied with Hillsborough County, after you submit your Hillsborough County online marriage license application and a clerk reviews it, they will email you with a link to schedule your Zoom call.

If you applied with Seminole County, after submitting your Seminole County online marriage license application, schedule your virtual marriage license appointment here. It will appear to be an in-person appointment but fear not! As long as you made the application for the “virtual application” you can expect to receive your zoom link 5 minutes before your appointment time.
Have your Zoom meeting with the County Clerk
At the date and time you scheduled your meeting, you will log in via the Zoom link to meet with a clerk who will validate your IDs, review your application with, take the payment, and have you electronically sign your marriage license. Both parties need to be present during this appointment.
Download your marriage license
Your marriage license will be emailed to you to download and print. It will also come with instructions for your officiant on how to sign it when they marry you. After your wedding, you will return the signed license to the County Clerk who stamps and certifies it. This can be returned in person or dropped in the mail. If you’re sending in the mail, remember that you have just 10 days to return it so drop it in the mail ASAP after your ceremony.

After getting your license, you can now get married! If you want to get your license and get married on the same day, you need to have proof that you took an online premarital course. If you’re not a Florida resident, you can get your license and get married on the same day without taking the course.
