There are many unique places in Central Florida to have a micro wedding. Like the Orlando-Apopka Airport.
Crystal & Billy had an Orange County courthouse wedding a few days before this reception but they wanted their photos at the airfield and who could blame them—It was an uber rad and unique spot.
From what I can tell, there haven’t been any other wedding shoots here. Google couldn’t find me any images so I could plan ahead and I think these are a great example of how I can fly by the seat of my pants (see what I did there?)
They held this intimate reception at the Aviate Inn, a well-designed condo built into an airplane hangar on the grounds of the private Orlando-Apopka Airport. It’s meant to be a home-like place to stay overnight, but they transformed it into a spot that could hold about 25 people.
Crystal and Billy were extremely thoughtful about each detail from the napkins to the local small-batch caramels they gave to guests. If you want a cheat sheet of the best vendors to make your event or wedding feel bespoke, catch that below.
This location is an active airport with runways and taxiways to be careful around and a fair amount of rules to keep everyone safe. Still, it was a spectacular spot to spend a couple of hours with this beautiful couple and their family and I feel so grateful that they asked me to be their photographer.
