Sumter County Courthouse After-Hours Elopement

This session was shot by GMP Founder and Principal Photographer Elizabeth Millar with second shooting by associate photographer Angelina

Alexandra and Tyler had their Sumter County Courthouse Elopement after-hours in front of this stunning courthouse building.

You don’t have to get married in the courthouse to get married at the courthouse! Quite a few times, I’ve photographed courthouse weddings that happened on the grounds (usually after-hours) with the couple’s friend, family member or pastor officiating the ceremony which is something you can’t do when you get married inside the courthouse—only the clerks can perform ceremonies.

So at sundown, Alexandra and Tyler got married with a small group of friends and family present and then (a HUGE treat for me!) they had a vintage convertible delivered for photos after the ceremony. I absolutely love how, even when shooting in the opposite direction from the sunset, we get to see both the building and the sunset reflected in the windows.

Funny story…not long before this wedding, my second shooter (Angelina) texted me about the Sumter County Courthouse and suggested we try to find clients in that area. I (half jokingly) said let’s just focus on it really hard and see if we can manifest it. Honestly, I was just feeling too lazy to come up with a whole marketing campaign to capture attention in that area. And (no kidding) 3 days later (THREE!!!) I got my first ever inquiry about the Sumter County Courthouse. I was stunned but not surprised because seriously, manifesting works!

I did this session in partnership with my second shooter Angelina who added a lot of value to the final gallery and I always recommend that couples take advantage of this option when they can.

I’m dying to shoot at the Sumter County Courthouse again soon.
