Pat & Nikki are one of the many couples who I’ve served during their elopement at the Orange County Courthouse in downtown Orlando.
Being in Orlando, I’m perfectly situated to receive so many wonderful people here on holiday from the UK who decide to get married while they’re at it. And there are so many ways to do it! You can do it at Disney Springs (a great lifehack for a Disney wedding on a budget), you can choose for me to marry you anywhere your heart desires, or you can get hitched at the Orange County Courthouse in downtown Orlando.
I recently learned that there’s a Facebook group based in the UK called UK Disney Brides where everyone helps each other out during their adventures planning their elopements and Disney weddings in Orlando. I’m not in the group because it’s strictly for couples only and not vendors, but I learned that so many of my couples have found me by chatting with each other in that group and discovered that Disney isn’t the only place to get married on a whim in Orlando.
The community of UK couples getting married in Orlando is a connected community of people helping each other make sense of how it all works and I just love that for them! THIS is why I love elopers. They’re just built different.
The sense of community that it can build is ironic considering that you’re getting married without a community in attendance. So it seems counterintuitive that couples might actually discover a new community while getting married all by themselves.
Nikki posted a TikTok about their day getting married at the courthouse and it got almost 70k views. From there, other UK brides started asking questions about how much it cost and how they did it so Nikki has been recording videos to answer these questions. Her profile on TikTok might be very helpful if you’re looking for info from a bride who has already done it.
And funny story about Nikki’s TikTok…she tagged me in one of her videos talking about me being their photographer and I saw a familiar name in the comments saying “we just did this a few weeks ago”. I clicked through to her profile and she was another one of my brides! I asked if they knew each other through the Facebook group or whether it was just a coincidence and, turns out, I serve so many UK brides that they’re connecting out in the wild by coincidence. How completely incredible is that?! I get to be popular in the UK wedding industry again, but this time from the comfort of the Florida sunshine! That said, I do really miss shooting weddings in England :(
Thank you for having me, Nikki and Pat, it was so much fun kickin’ it with you and your completely adorable kiddos.
