Andrea & Tony’s Family Focused Leu Gardens Elopement

There is a distinct, rhythmic energy to a family elopement at Harry P. Leu Gardens. While the sprawling gardens offer a beautiful “Old Florida” backdrop year-round, the holiday season transforms the space into something cinematic. For Andrea, Tony, and their children, the day was less about a rigid schedule and more about an intentional, joyful experience together as a family unit.

Keeping the Energy Moving
When I’m photographing a family with teenagers and younger children, my biggest goal is to keep everyone in motion. I’ve found that if you stay still for too long, self-consciousness starts to creep in. Instead, we spent our session wandering the garden paths, capturing the brothers, the sisters, and every combination of the family along the way. By focusing on movement—walking together, laughing, and simply being—the camera fades into the background, allowing their genuine connections to shine through.

The Avenue of Light
The absolute highlight of the session—the moment that makes every visitor to Leu Gardens gasp—is the avenue of historic oaks adorned with crystal chandeliers. While many imagine these are meant for the evening, I’ll let you in on a secret: they are actually much prettier in the daytime. They will be up until the end of the holiday season and may or may not be back next year!
We shot this session in the afternoon, just as the sun was beginning to sit low in the sky. The light wasn’t quite at the “golden hour” stage yet, but it was soft enough to filter through the canopy and make those chandeliers sparkle.

A Winter Wonderland in Orlando
From the giant, glowing holiday stars to the vibrant red poinsettias tucked into the greenery, Leu Gardens feels like a true winter escape right here in Orlando. Andrea and Tony’s day proved that you don’t need a massive guest list to have a celebration that feels grand. All you need is a beautiful landscape, your favorite people, and that juicy afternoon light to make the memories feel special.
Thank you so much for having me, Andrea and Tony!
